METHOD STATEMENT OF INSTALLATION OF INTERBUNA EJN-100 EXPANSION JOINT AT EXISTING RAVI BRIDGE.
INTRODUCTION:

Bridge Expansion Joints
A joint expansion forms a load-bearing bridging of the joint gap between the abutment and the bridge or between the single bridge sections. Therefore ,expansion joints are a crucial element in overall health of a bridge. Therefore, the INTERBUNA bridge expansion joints provide continuity between two structural parts. They protect the structure from vibrations, water, salt, and foreign bodies. Therefore, a properly installed INTERBUNA expansion joint provides a good driving comfort with low noise emissions for passing traffic.This is one of the biggest differences between rubber expansion joints and steel joints. . Choice of expansion joints rely solely on the consultant and sometimes the client of the project. Therefore, bridges with very large movements can be developed by rubber or steel joints. Therefore , rubber joints are used more often then steel joints.

POSITION OF EXISTING GAP.
It has been conveyed through our Pakistan representative that existing bridge expansion joint was installed on our project heavy steel angle which is fixed on strong concrete block. Therefore ,the gap between two blocks is properly maintained 50mm. Therefore, the concrete block is throughout on north and south bond of the bridge.

DRAWING Of Expansion Joints
We have mentioned placement, leveling , anchoring and side filling of expansion joint in below drawing. Slight changes in dimensions are possible during site commissioning. The overall drawing is accurate. Therefore,it is safe to be considered.

PROCESS OF INSTALLATION OF NEW EXPANSION JOINT FOR EXISTING RAVI BRIDGE.
STRUCTURE’S LOCATION
Mark on the asphalt the position of the two cuts as to the center of the centerline of the gap, at the distance marked on the plans.

ASPHALT CUT
The objective is to create a recess deep and wide enough to accommodate the EJN-100 expansion joint unit plus its level regulating screed and transition strips.

LEVELING OF BED AND HOLES ARRANGEMENT
The steel bed would be leveled properly with the help of leveling Epoxy. The Supabizz marking of the expansion joint holes would be made properly.

PLACEMENT OF JOINT OF Bridges
Expansion joints will be placed in holes that are made according to the requirements after leveling. Therefore, with asphaltic layer, expansion joint level should be zero-zero after installation of EJN-100. The leveling plays an important part during expansion joint installation. Size of anchor bolts will be provided as per drawing..It is necessary to place expansion joins correctly before moving towards anchor bolts. Therefore, it is fixed.

TIGHTENING OF ANCHOR BOLTS
Rubber caps will be fixed on expansion joints after the bolts are properly tightened.
